The Magic of Trends and My First Step

Hello friends!
If you’re like me, you often get disappointed with the products on the market. Everyone is wearing the same earrings, the same necklace designs… Fashion is there, but where’s the personal touch?
This is where my DIY (Do It Yourself) journey began. “Trendy Treasures” isn’t just a blog; it’s the story of my passion when I decided not to rely on high-end stores, but to create my own fashion trends, with my own hands!
I still remember the time when tassel earrings were all the rage. I went to a store, liked a pair, but was shocked by the price. I didn’t have that much money at the time, but those earrings just wouldn’t leave my mind.
Then I thought, “Why not make it myself?” It was a strange idea, since I’d never made jewelry before. I was a student and on a tight budget. And that was it! I watched two or three videos on YouTube, bought some colored thread and some inexpensive hooks from a local stationery store.
That evening, I turned my small table into a crafting studio. The first attempt was a bit messy—the fringes were crooked, and the hook wouldn’t fit properly. But I didn’t give up. After about three hours of hard work, I had my first DIY fringe earrings! They weren’t as perfect as the ones sold in the market, but they had a special sparkle— the sparkle of my hard work!
The next day, when I wore them to college, a friend immediately asked, “Wow! Where did you get these? They’re a completely new style!” When I told her I made them myself, her surprise was palpable. At that moment, I realized that these weren’t just earrings; they were a trend I’d created . The experience was more satisfying than buying any branded item.
Understanding and staking trends: My little research

Making DIY jewelry is fun when you know what’s trending in the market. I’m no fashion guru, but I do one thing: I watch and I gamble.
- Instagram and Pinterest: These are my biggest schools. I see what the biggest fashion influencers are wearing. Bead and pearl jewelry is all the rage these days. I thought this trend would fit perfectly into my budget. I use online images as inspiration, adding my own flair rather than copying them exactly.
- Visiting the local market: I always wander around the local market. I find many small shops selling beautiful beads, wires, and tools at very low prices. I once found a box full of old beads and small pieces of chain for just ₹50—a treasure trove! I love this “scrap hunting.”
- Making Friends with Old Jewelry: We all have old chains or broken bangles that we throw away. My motto is: throw nothing away! I combined my mother’s broken chain and some old pendants to create a brand new layered necklace. This necklace would have cost at least ₹1,000, but it cost me just ₹0! This is what true jugaad is all about.
Why is the personal touch important in DIY?

There’s one thing about DIY jewelry that can never be found in ready-made items— a story!
When someone asks me, “Where did you get this beautiful bracelet?” I don’t just say, “From a store.” I explain:
“I made this bracelet when I was very stressed. Stringing each bead became a form of meditation. When it was finished, my mind was calm. This bracelet reminds me that beauty can be created even in difficult times.“
That’s the personal touch. The things you make aren’t just beautiful ; they reflect your feelings and your time . They embody your experiences.
- Turn your mood into style: If I’m in a romantic mood, I create soft floral earrings. If I’m feeling bold, I create a statement necklace using metal and chain. Your accessories reflect your mood, and you can make a new fashion statement every day.
- Gifts that are given from the heart: It was a dear friend’s birthday. She was loving the coin jewelry trend these days. I made her a custom-made coin necklace with her initials engraved on one side. When she saw the gift, her joy made me feel like my hard work was paying off. Even an expensive store-bought necklace couldn’t have matched that joy, as it involved both love and effort.
