Introduction: My Hair Damage Phase (And the Story of How to Get Over It)

If you’re like me—never get ready without a straightener, curling wand, and blow dryer—
then heat damage won’t be a new thing for you.
My hair was so frizzy at one point that I thought it might never be fixed.
Split ends, rough texture, zero shine, and on top of that, the added onslaught of humidity.
But at one point, I decided enough was enough.
I would give my hair actual care —not just shampoo and conditioner, but with ingredients that provide deep repair.
In today’s blog, I ‘m sharing 5 ingredients that literally revived my hair.
In simple language, from real experience, without glamorization—just the truth.
1. Argan Oil – The ‘Reset Button’ for My Frizzy Hair.

When I first used argan oil, honestly, I wasn’t expecting any miracles. But within a week, I saw a noticeable difference:
- ends became soft
- the frizz has reduced
- Even after styling, the hair did not look rough.
The best part of argan oil is that it’s non-greasy . I used to rub 2-3 drops into my palms and apply it to wet hair, especially the ends. At the time, I didn’t understand what the vitamin E and fatty acids in it were doing, but later I realized—these nutrients were shielding my hair. If you use heat tools regularly, trust me: Argan oil is a small step, but it makes a big difference.
2. Keratin – My “Dead Straightener Look” Hair Savior

Keratin is an ingredient we’ve all heard about. But I wasn’t interested in a keratin treatment—it didn’t seem budget-friendly, and I was afraid of the chemicals. So I started using a keratin-infused mask . Honestly, I thought it was just a marketing term at first. But after 3-4 uses, I noticed some major changes:
- my hair surface became smooth
- Tangles reduced
- Hair started to look shiny
- The breakage is almost halved
Keratin essentially fills in the broken gaps created by heat damage. In a way, it “patches” the hair. My routine was simple: I used a keratin mask 1–2 times a week, left it in for 15 minutes, and then rinsed. The result? My hair became manageable!
3. Coconut Oil – Old-School, But Works Every Single Time.

Coconut oil is the ingredient I’ve ignored the most in my life. The reason? I thought it was just a “mother’s trick.” Then the heat damage made me so desperate that I thought, “Let’s try this too.” And omg… my biggest mistake was that I tried coconut oil so late. Coconut oil penetrates deep inside (as I’ll learn later), and it started repairing my hair from the inside :
- breakage has reduced considerably
- hair became soft
- The curls started appearing naturally beautiful.
I usually apply lukewarm meltdown coconut oil on my scalp and ends and wash it off after an hour. If your hair is extremely dry, this is an absolute must-have ingredient.
4. Aloe Vera – Cooling Hydration for Heat-Dry Hair

Aloe Vera is a hidden gem. I used to think aloe was just for skin… but nope, it can work wonders for hair too. When my hair was super dry, I mixed aloe vera gel with water to make a simple spray. And believe me:
- frizz instantly calm ho jata
- The hair starts looking very fresh
- Perfect for a mid-week refresh
Aloe vera essentially creates a moisture seal that allows heat-damaged, rough strands to relax a bit. Plus, it is lightweight— so the scalp doesn’t get oily and
the hair doesn’t look sticky. Aloe vera taught me that not every repair ingredient needs to be heavy oil.
5. Rice Water – The Natural Boost for My ‘Thinning Hair’.

The rice water trend had gone viral then, and honestly I tried it just out of curiosity. But OMG, results real the. Rice water contains amino acids
that make hair stronger. I noticed this:
- hair fall reduced
- strands thode thick feel hone lage
- Hair regained a healthy bounce
My rice water routine was very simple:
- washing rice
- storing its water
- Wash it off after 20 minutes
Many people ferment it, but for me the fresh version was best.
My Real Haircare Routine Now (Post-Damage Recovery)
As my hair improved, I started following a simple routine:
- Pre-wash: coconut oil or aloe vera spray
- Wash: mild sulfate-free shampoo
- Post-wash: argan oil drops
- Weekly treat: keratin mask
- Bi-weekly: rice water rinse
By following this routine, my hair condition literally transformed in 2-3 months.
